Amtrak Summer Discounts

My family loves to ride the TRAIN!! When we traveled up to VA for my sister’s wedding (this past Feb) we took the Auto-Train! Did you know that all drinks (unlimited bottles of water too) and meals are included FREE with your Auto-train ticket?!!  Amtrak has a few different summer specials going on. **WATCH** because you must book your ticket by Friday, May 6th for the FREE travel special and by June 5th for the other one. Kids Ride FREE to Celebrate 40 Years of Amtrak (must book on or before Fri May 6th, for travel before June 9th)

Amtrak is turning 40 this year and to help celebrate, they’re letting their youngest fans onboard for free. So if you book a trip now through May 6, 2011 and travel May 1 through June 9, 2011, your family can join in the celebration, and your kids will ride free. Kids Ride the Auto Train for Just $19 (must book before June 5th, for travel before August 30th)

Kids, cars and convenience can finally go together. Because when you take the Auto Train for your next family trip, you’ll skip the traffic and go right to the savings. Just book from April 1 through June 5, 2011, and travel from June 1 through August 30, 2011, and kids ride for just $19 each. This special $19 child fare is valid for one child age 2-15 per paid regular (full) fare adult. The adult and child must travel together on the same itinerary and have tickets issued together.   The Auto Train accommodates all shapes and sizes of automobiles like:

• cars
• vans
• motorcycles
• boats and jet-skis

{Personal Note from Kati:} Don’t forget to pack the disinfectant!!! (It’s easy, just bring along your can of Lysol…first thing on the train, disinfect the room, then leave it to air out while you go enjoy the complementary snack event in the dining car…hey, just saying…) Also…the trip went by soooo fast, the first time we took WAY  to many things for the ride, so pack lightly (now we just sleep in our next day clothes and wake up and GO).
